On March 18, 2024, Puerto Vallarta celebrated the opening of a new Municipal Liaison Office (OME) of Mexico’s Secretariat of Foreign Affairs (SRE), located at Puerto Mágico. This opening represents an important step toward modernizing and improving access to passport application and issuance services.
Facilities and Services
The new office is equipped with four interview windows, a document review section, two biometric registration modules, and a treasury cashier for processing the corresponding payments. For visitors’ convenience, the facility also includes a waiting room, a children’s area, and a nursing room.
With this new location, the office will be able to serve up to 80 people per day, exclusively by appointment. The estimated passport processing time will be four to five business days, helping streamline the process for applicants.
Commitment to the Community
During the inauguration ceremony, Municipal President Luis Munguía highlighted the importance of the new office in making access to an essential document for citizens’ identification and mobility easier. He also mentioned that additional efforts will be made to eventually convert this office into an SRE sub-delegation.
